In the male-dominated freight transport sector, 25-year-old Neha Thakur from Himachal Pradesh has created a stir on social media by breaking the traditional framework and driving a lorry. After completing her graduation, this young woman trained to become an air hostess, but finally followed in her father’s footsteps and made truck driving her a career, and is now the first female truck vlogger from Himachal Pradesh.
Neha, who hails from Mandi, has had a special love for trucks since childhood. Her father was a lorry driver himself, and during her school days, she often used to commute to school in his father’s lorry. After completing her college education, she went to Chandigarh and also received the necessary professional training to become an air hostess. But her mind was always on the steering wheel of big vehicles like her father. Finally, Neha returned to her hometown and started driving a lorry at the age of 22.
Not just driving a truck, she started capturing the twists and turns of the steep Himalayan hills, rain, fog, road challenges, and the real-life experience of loading and unloading goods on camera and sharing it on social media. “My camera also turns on in the morning as soon as the truck starts. I don’t need artificial trends on social media, my daily hard work is my content,” says Neha confidently.
Neha says her main goal is to change the stereotype and negative mindset of truck drivers in society. “Many people ask me why I chose to drive a truck, but my simple answer is why not drive a truck?” she challenges.
