A group of Malaysian tourists has sparked outrage after posting videos mocking people in China, calling locals “smelly” and insulting them during their trip.
In one video, a woman is heard telling Chinese commuters, “You all stink. Do you all not bathe?” In another, she complained about noisy passengers on a train and told an e-hailing driver to “use deodorant.”
The videos went viral on social media before being deleted, with many Malaysians condemning the group’s behaviour as disrespectful and saying it damaged the country’s image abroad.
The incident comes as travel between Malaysia and China has been growing under easier visa rules.
The woman later said she had taken legal action against people she accused of spreading false information and defamatory statements about her.
