We left Manchester for an unplanned road trip to Inverness, Scotland, expecting breathtaking Highland scenery and an unforgettable adventure.

But just after Glencoe, everything changed.

Our car suddenly caught fire in the middle of nowhere, leaving us stranded for hours in the Scottish Highlands. What started as an exciting road trip quickly turned into one of the most stressful travel experiences we’ve ever had.

With no transport, no nearby towns, and rain on the way, we waited for a rescue truck, watched our car get towed away, and somehow managed to reach our hostel for the night. The next morning brought even more challenges as we battled heavy Scottish weather and tried to make our way back to Manchester.

This is the story of how a dream Scotland road trip became a complete nightmare.
