Sirens blared across Tel Aviv early on Saturday (March 7) and explosions were heard and seen overhead, as air-defence missiles were launched to intercept Iranian missiles, one week into the war Israel and the United States launched against Iran.
The Israeli military said it identified missiles launched from Iran towards Israel.
It said it had begun a new wave of strikes targeting Iranian infrastructure in Tehran.
Earlier on Friday (March 6) U.S. President Donald Trump demanded Iran’s “unconditional surrender,” a dramatic escalation that could make it more difficult to negotiate a swift end to hostilities.
Trump made the remarks on social media just hours after Iran’s president announced that unspecified countries had begun mediation efforts, one of the first signals of a diplomatic initiative to end the conflict.
