Back inside a Garadi Mane in Bangalore, continuing to learn from one of the world’s oldest living strength traditions.
In this video I’m swinging two Nals, performing a traditional exercise locally known as Rumali. The movement is remarkably similar to the dumbbell swings that were once common in Western physical culture, reminding us that different cultures often developed similar ways of building strength and resilience independently.
Training with Nals develops shoulder mobility, grip strength, coordination, endurance, and full-body power, while demanding rhythm and control with every repetition.
What fascinates me most is discovering how these traditional training methods have been preserved for generations and are still practiced today inside these historic Garadi Manes.
Every visit to India reinforces the same lesson: modern fitness has much to learn from these timeless traditions.
🇮🇳 Grateful to keep learning where these practices are still alive.
