Maths wizard Shakuntala Devi was often called the ‘human computer’.
In the latter part of the 20th Century, her dazzling skill with numbers and complex calculations turned her into household name in India.
In various interviews, she called her skills ‘a divine gift’ that she always ‘tried to improve’.
After spending decades as a globe-trotting celebrity, Devi died at the age of 83, on 21 April 2013.
On the anniversary of her death, here is an excerpt from a 1979 interview in which she wowed BBC presenter Denis Tuohy.
