External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar delivered a sharp response to Pakistan during his address to the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, accusing it of misrepresenting facts and attempting to normalise terrorism.

Referring to the previous day’s remarks at the UN, Jaishankar described Pakistan as a “serial practitioner of terrorism” and rejected arguments seeking immunity from the consequences of terrorism.

“Our right to defend ourselves against terrorism will be exercised,” he declared, stressing that friendship and goodwill cannot coexist with terrorism. He added that understandings based on such goodwill would naturally be called into question and said it was for the perpetrator of terrorism to change its ways.

Watch Jaishankar’s remarks at UNGA as India reiterates its position on cross-border terrorism, national security and its right to defend itself.
