ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਨੇ, ਦਿਲ ਐਸੇ ਤੋੜੇ ਨੇ,
ਦੁੱਖ ਹੁਣ ਨਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸਹਾਰ !
Come, beloved…Hold me close, just once.
I am exhausted—my eyes ache from watching the roads.
Separation from you has torn my heart apart.
This sorrow is now beyond what I can bear.

ਮਿੰਨਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਪਾਵਾਂ, ਵੇ ਕਰਦੀ ਦੁਆਵਾਂ !

ਤੇਰਾ ਰੋਗ ਖਾਂਦਾ, ਕਿ ਵਧਦਾ ਈ ਜਾਂਦਾ,
ਕੀਤੇ ਉਪਾਅ ਮੈਂ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ !
Neither sunlight soothes my soul,
Nor does the shade bring comfort.
This life feels like it’s been bitten by a serpent.
Your love—this illness—devours me without end,
Even though I’ve tried a thousand remedies.

ਤੂੰ ਆ ਜਾ ਵੇ ਛੇਤੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਜੀ ‘ਨੀ ਲੱਗਦਾ !
ਸਾਰੀ-ਸਾਰੀ ਰਾਤੀਂ ਰਵ੍ਹੇ ਦੀਵਾ ਜਗਦਾ !
ਕਰਾਂ ਜੇ ਹਨੇਰੇ, ਤਾਂ ਦੁੱਖ ਪਾਉਣ ਘੇਰੇ,
ਕਿ ਇੰਝ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਰਾਤਾਂ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰ !
Please return soon, I can no longer live like this.
The lamp stare at me through every sleepless night.
When I put out the light, I’m surrounded by sorrow, This is how the nights pass.

ਵੇ ਸੱਜਣਾ ਨੂੰ ਐਨਾ ਦੁਖੀ ਨੀ ਕਰੀਦਾ !
ਜਿਹਨੂੰ ਮੀਤ ਮੰਨੀਏ, ਉਹਦਾ ਦਮ ਭਰੀਦਾ !
ਨਜ਼ਰ ਜਿਸਨੂੰ ਟੋਲ੍ਹੇ, ਨਾ “ਸਰਤਾਜ” ਕੋਲ਼ੇ,
ਤਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਕੀ ਖਿਜ਼ਾ ਕੀ ਬਹਾਰ !
One should not bring such grief to a soul that truly loves.
The one we call our companion,
Should vouch for the same !
I am searching for my “Sartaaj” but he nowhere near, So what does it matter whether it’s autumn or spring ?
