BBC questions Google CEO Sundar Pichai after grads walk out during his speech | BBC News India

Protesters walked out as Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai took to the stage ahead of his speech at Stanford University’s graduation ceremony.

Video filmed by the BBC showed dozens of people walking out, some carrying signs expressing concern about the company’s controversial work with the US government.

It is not clear if all the students who left were motivated by the same cause. Some were seen waving Palestinian flags, and some student groups had earlier called for protest action over Google’s ties to Israel.

Pichai, who studied at Stanford, did not respond to the BBC’s request for comment.
