അഹമ്മദാബാദിൽ ആൺസുഹൃത്തിനൊപ്പമുള്ള വീഡിയോ സമൂഹമാധ്യമങ്ങളിൽ പ്രചരിച്ചതിനെ തുടർന്ന് ഇരുപത്തിരണ്ടുകാരി സോഫിയ ഫാറൂഖിനെ പിതാവും സഹോദരനും ചേർന്ന് ദുരഭിമാനക്കൊല ചെയ്തു. ഓഗസ്റ്റ് 12-ന് വിജനമായ സ്ഥലത്തെത്തിച്ച് ചുറ്റിക കൊണ്ട് തലയ്ക്കടിച്ച് പരിക്കേൽപ്പിച്ച ശേഷം കഴുത്തുഞെരിച്ചാണ് കൊലപാതകം നടത്തിയത്. തുടർന്ന് ഇതൊരു വാഹനാപകടമായി ചിത്രീകരിക്കാൻ പ്രതികളായ മുഹമ്മദ് ഫാറൂഖും ഹബിൽ ഫാറൂഖും ശ്രമിച്ചെങ്കിലും പോലീസിന്റെ സമഗ്ര അന്വേഷണത്തിൽ സത്യം പുറത്തുവന്നു. മുൻപ് വീഡിയോ വൈറലായതിനെ തുടർന്ന് പ്രതികൾ സോഫിയയെ ശകാരിക്കുകയും ആൺകുട്ടികളുമായി സംസാരിക്കുന്നത് വിലക്കുകയും ചെയ്തിരുന്നു. ഇതിൽ നിന്നുടലെടുത്ത പകയാണ് കൊലപാതകത്തിൽ കലാശിച്ചത്.
