Valentina Gomez is a 26‑year‑old far‑right Republican running for Congress in Texas’s 31st District whose name has repeatedly made headlines for her provocative, camera‑ready stunts. Born in Medellín, Colombia in 1999, she moved to the U.S. in 2009, grew up in Jersey City, and worked in real estate before entering politics. Her platform centres on what she calls defending “traditional American values” — which for her means opposing Islam in the U.S., rejecting LGBTQ+ rights, and taking an extreme stance on immigration, including public executions for undocumented migrants.
Gomez’s notoriety comes from deliberately shocking acts that double as political messaging. In May 2025, she disrupted Texas Muslim Capitol Day, declaring “Islam has no place in Texas” before being removed by security. In December 2024, she released a campaign video showing a mock execution of a hooded immigrant. Earlier in 2025, she destroyed LGBTQ+‑themed books on video, tying it to her vow to ban such material.
Her first political bid — for Missouri Secretary of State in 2024 — ended with just 7.4 percent of the vote, but she has since shifted to Texas, using outrage as her main campaign currency. Supporters see her as bold and unapologetic; critics view her as divisive and dangerous.
