Amid escalating tensions in West Asia, Donald Trump has called on major global powers to help protect the strategic Strait of Hormuz — one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes.

The United States President urged countries including China, France, Japan, South Korea and the United Kingdom to deploy warships to safeguard international shipping lanes in the region.

Trump claimed that the military capabilities of Iran have already been “100% neutralized”, but warned that Iran could still launch drone or missile attacks targeting ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

He also stated that US forces will continue strikes on Iranian coastal positions and expressed confidence that the crucial maritime route will soon be fully reopened.

Meanwhile, Trump dismissed a report by The Wall Street Journal claiming that five refueling aircraft were destroyed in an attack on a Saudi airport in Saudi Arabia, calling the report inaccurate.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has also responded to Trump’s complaint regarding negative media coverage, advising broadcasters to address errors before license renewals.

The Strait of Hormuz is a vital global oil corridor, and any disruption could have major impacts on global energy markets and international trade.
