Thousands of Iranians gathered in Tehran to mourn the death of the country’s Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on March 1, 2026. State-run media confirmed Khamenei was killed in a US-Israeli air strike the day before. But others in the country welcomed the news of Khamenei’s death.
