ਆਹ ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਛੱਡੋ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਵੀ ਪੂਰੇ,

Those who reconciled dreams with reality,
Who made peace between desires & necessities!
Who discovered ecstasy within themselves—
From them, even wine learned the art of being the intoxication !
ਜਦੋਂ ਸਿੱਖ ਲਿਆ ਹਰ ਪਲ ਮਾਨਣਾ ਉਦੋਂ ਹੀ !
ਨਿੱਕੇ-ਮੋਟੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਆ’ਜੂ ਟਾਲਣਾ ਉਦੋਂ ਹੀ !
ਜਦੋਂ ਆਪ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਕੀਤਾ ਚਾਨਣਾ ਉਦੋਂ ਹੀ ;
ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗੂ ਸਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਜੋ ਕੀਤਾ ਆਫ਼ਤਾਬ ਨੇ !
When one learns to enjoy every moment, only then ; They learn to avoid the small sorrows !
When one creates light through one’s own effort, only then does one understand what the Sun truly does for us !!
ਹਾਲੇ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਨੇ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਬਕ ਸਿਖਾਉਣੇ !
ਹਾਲੇ ਚਾਬੀਆਂ ਗੁਆਉਣੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਤਾ’ਲੇ ਚਮਕਾਉਣੇ !
ਫੇਰ ਪਿਛਲੀਆਂ ਬਾਰੀਆਂ ‘ਚੋਂ ਦਾਖ਼ਲੇ ਕਰਾਉਣੇ ;
ਏਹੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਤਮਾਸ਼ੇ ਬੜੇ ਲਾ-ਜਵਾਬ ਨੇ !
Life still has many lessons left to teach;
Keys are yet to be lost & locks yet to be more teasing for that !
Entries must again be made through the back doors !
All these spectacles are remarkably wondrous !
ਜੋ ਵੀ ਹੋਊਗਾ ਜੀ ਹੋਊਗਾ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲ਼ਾ !
ਹੋਇਆ ਦੇਰ ਨਾ’ ਤਾਂ ਥੋੜ੍ਹਾ ਪਰੇਸ਼ਾਨ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲ਼ਾ !
ਤਕ਼ਦੀਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ਼ ਜੰਗ ਘਮਾਸਾਨ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲ਼ਾ ;
ਐਸੇ ਆਲਮ ਵੀ ਅੱਗੇ ਬੜੇ ਬੇ-ਹਿਸਾਬ ਨੇ !
Whatever is to come will come as a surprise !
If it comes late, it will bring a little anxiety !
There will be fierce battles with destiny !
Such phases too are countless in coming life !
ਐਸੇ ਮਸਲੇ ਤਾਂ ਪੂਰੇ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਛਾਪ ਵੀ ਨੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ !
ਜਦੋਂ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਓਦੋਂ ਪਾਪ ਵੀ ਨੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ !
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਕੰਮ ਰੱਬ ਕੋਲ਼ੋਂ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਆਪ ਵੀ ਨੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ ;
ਓਹੀ ਕਰਨੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਨੇ ਬਾਂਸੁਰੀ-ਰਬਾਬ ਨੇ !
Such matters are never fully published, it seems !
When it is realised then no one commit sins consciously !
The tasks which are even hard for the God Himself ; Those are the very tasks performed by the Divine Flute & the Rabab !!
ਕਿਤੇ ਬੇੜੀਆਂ ਪੁਚਾਵੋ ਕਿਤੇ ਪੁਲ਼ ਬਣਵਾਈਏ !
ਕਿਤੇ ਛਾਵਾਂ ਬੀਜੀਏ ਤੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਨਿੱਘ ਵਰਤਾਈਏ !
ਸਰਤਾਜ ਸਿਆਂ ਗੀਤ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਉਣ ਵਾਲ਼ਾ ਗਾਈਏ !
ਓ ਤਸੱਲੀ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲ਼ੇ ਏਹੀ ਤਾਂ ਸਵਾਬ ਨੇ !
We must send the boats to cross the river !
Somewhere we must build bridges !
Somewhere we sow shade, somewhere we must send the warmth in the harsh cold !
O Sartaaj, sing songs that create communion ;
This, indeed, is true virtue to offer consolation !!
