An Israeli passenger filmed chaotic scenes aboard a FlyDubai flight after an apparent attack in the cockpit forced the plane to make an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia.
Miryam Shira Ochayon was returning to Israel after spending months traveling in Asia when passengers began screaming as the flight was diverted to Tabuk.
Ochayon kept filming, trying to calm other passengers and praying, while passengers later clapped and sang “Am Yisrael Chai,” meaning “The People of Israel Live,” as the plane landed safely.
One passenger who helped subdue the copilot after an apparent attempt to crash the plane was heard telling others, “Guys, we have landed, we won,” while raising his hand in a sign of victory.
Investigators are trying to determine why the Omani copilot stabbed the captain on the flight carrying 174 people.
Passengers said the Indian captain opened the cockpit door, allowing them to subdue the attacker and stabilize the plane.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the copilot was arrested and was being interrogated in Saudi Arabia.
The captain was reportedly in stable condition, while FlyDubai suspended flights to and from Israel during the investigation.
