Meghalaya Congress MP Saleng A. Sangma has sought international support over the proposed Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026. Sangma said he has reached out to representatives from the US, Australia, South Korea, England, Mexico and African countries, asking them to make representations to the Indian government over concerns surrounding the proposed amendments.

The proposed FCRA amendments are being examined by a Joint Parliamentary Committee after the Bill was referred to the panel. The legislation proposes changes to the framework governing foreign contributions received by organisations in India, including provisions concerning foreign-funded assets when an organisation’s FCRA registration ceases to be valid.
