Pizza Base Dough Recipe (For 2 Medium Pizzas)
Ingredients:
All-purpose flour (maida) – 2 cups (250 g)
Instant dry yeast – 1 tsp
Sugar – 1 tsp
Salt – ½ tsp
Olive oil (or any neutral oil) – 2 tbsp
Warm water – ¾ cup (180 ml approx)
—
Instructions:
1. Activate yeast (if not using instant yeast):
In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir and let it rest for 10 minutes until frothy.
(If using instant yeast, skip this step — add it directly to flour.)
2. Make the dough:
In a large bowl, combine flour and salt.
Add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil.
Mix and knead for about 8–10 minutes till smooth and elastic.
(If dough feels sticky, sprinkle a little flour; if dry, add a spoon of water.)
3. First rise:
Lightly oil the dough, cover with a damp cloth or cling wrap, and let it rest for 1 to 1½ hours in a warm place — it should double in size.
4. Punch and shape:
Once risen, punch down to release air.
Divide into portions (depending on pizza size).
Roll or stretch into a round base — about ¼ inch thick.
