He accused officers of mishandling the incident, questioned the police statement defending their conduct, and called for an end to what he described as unequal policing policies. Yusuf also reiterated Reform UK’s proposal for an “Equal Treatment Act”, which he said would abolish race-based policing action plans and require equal treatment under the law.
The remarks come as the Birmingham police footage continues to generate widespread political debate and public scrutiny over policing, accountability and equality before the law.
