Israel-Hezbollah War: Netanyahu Rejects Ceasefire, IDF Continues Heavy Strikes on Southern Lebanon
Israel has firmly rejected Hezbollah’s calls for a ceasefire and is continuing its intense military campaign in Lebanon. Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz announced that over 200 terrorists were eliminated in the latest strikes, taking the total to more than 1,400 since the campaign began. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated there will be “no ceasefire” and vowed to keep striking Hezbollah until security is restored for northern Israel. The recent attacks have killed over 300 people and injured more than 1,150 in Lebanon.
Despite international pressure from leaders like Germany’s Chancellor Friedrich Merz and the UK’s Keir Starmer urging Israel to stop, and upcoming negotiations in Pakistan, many Lebanese citizens have lost faith in the peace process. Residents from southern Lebanon say they do not trust negotiations while bombs continue to fall. Pro-Hezbollah protests have erupted in Beirut, with demonstrators vowing to resist and accusing their own government of betrayal.
