Iranians took to the streets of Tehran late Saturday, cheering, clapping, and playing music after reports that supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had died.

Videos verified by AFP showed residents honking car horns, launching fireworks, and applauding from their windows.

The celebrations began even before US President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social, declaring Khamenei “one of the most evil people in history.”

Iranian officials have not confirmed his death, with some insisting he remains alive.

The scenes of jubilation come weeks after a violent crackdown on mass protests that left thousands dead.
